Sochima Amanda Iloka, a graduate of Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka died yesterday after a brief illness. According to friends on Facebook, the deceased popularly known as "Soch Money" suffered from malaria before her death. A WAEC candidate from Enugu State, Ali Cynthia Chineche has made 9 A1 in all 9 subjects she sat for in the just released West African Senior School Certificate Examiniation, WASSCE. Last year, a similar result was recorded when a candidate from Kaduna State came out with A1 in all registered subject in the Exam. The results released by WAEC earlier in the week saw the Enugu student making an express A1 in all her nine subjects. Sharing the news, Cynthia’s teacher, Chibulu Austin wrote on Facebook,“Last year was someone from Kaduna state with nine A1’s. “Today we have produced, and I am very much proud teaching this lovely and wonderful lady in a great citadel of learning. “Let the result talk for itself. The Biafra Zionist Federation, BZF, on Monday announced an interim ‎government to run the affairs of Biafra. Self-acclaimed President of Biafra, Barr. Benjamin Onwuka made the announcement at a press briefing in Enugu. DAILY POST reports that Onwuka, who declared himself Biafra Zionist President, named Prof. Part Utomi as the foreign minister. Also in the cabinet are Prof. Chukwuma Soludo- Central Bank of Biafra, CBB; Mrs. Aruma Oteh- finance minister; Ohanaeze President, Chief Nnia Nwodo- Ambassador to US; Prof. Jerry Gana – Transport; Labaran Maku- Aviation, among others. According to Onwuka, the interim Biafra government, which would take off tomorrow, August 1, will last till August 31. He called on all security personnel of Igbo origin to pull out from Nigeria and join his government.

This year, students seeking admission into Nigerian universities, will be judged based on their WASSCE results and Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) scores. The Minister of Education, Mallam Adamu Adamu, abolished post-UTME as a means of admitting candidates into tertiary institutions in 2016. Ever since then, Universities will be required to admit students by screening and awarding marks to their WASSCE results and JAMB scores. The breakdown shows that when a candidate submits his/her O’Level result for screening, five O’Level subjects relating to his proposed programme of study will be examined. Marks will then be awarded based on what he scored in WASSCE. Hence, A1 is awarded 8%, B2-7%, B3-6%, C4-5%, C5-4% and C6-3%. Total marks for anyone with five A1s is 40 per cent. What this means is that if a candidate has five ‘A1s’, he has gotten a maximum 40 per cent. A student with five B2s, would score 35 per cent. Nigerian Rapper, Remilekun Abdulkalid Safaru, known as Reminisce, has revealed plans to join politics very soon. The rapper disclosed this in a chat with Punch, while also regretting his decisions of not being a graduate. The General Overseer of Mountain of Liberation and miracle ministry, Pastor Chidi Okafor recently cursed a woman to go blind for being a witch. The pastor, during a deliverance section called out a young lady identified as Blessing, who was suffering from issue of blood for six months. Okafor claimed God ministered to him that the person behind her ordeal was her mother, Dorcas, who was also present in Church during the ministrations. However, drama played out during the deliverance as the woman, believed to be in her 60s denied afflicting her daughter with the strange ailment when confronted by the pastor. Angered by her denial, the pastor asked God to strike her with blindness for 10 minutes. In what looked like a set of Nollywood flick, the woman suddenly went ‘blind’. After she confessed and admitted inflicting her daughter with the sickness, the pastor prayed and her sight was ‘restored’.
