Especially in the early parts of a relationship wherein a person just wants to come off as something close to perfect, it can become very easy to lie. They will try to impress the other person with a fancy job title and ballpark figure of how much they earn. Another scenario of financial dishonesty is when a person will be overly modest about how much they earn so as not to make the other person feel inferior or intimidated.
